Content Policy

The ClearVoices content policy ensures that any title submitted to ClearVoices is appropriate for the wide range of distribution partners and readers. Please ensure that all content to ClearVoices meets all of the below standards.

Advertising, Spam, or Malware

Please ensure your audio does not include any product or service advertisements, spam, or malware. The sole exception to this is the inclusion of a reasonable reference to additional books that may be of interest to the listener (e.g. look forward to this upcoming title from this author).

Duplicate Content

To maintain the integrity of the catalog ClearVoices providers vendors, ClearVoices limits the distribution of duplicate or materially similar content (such as multiple editions of the same book), and does not facilitate distribution of content under master resell rights. In the event that ClearVoices will not be distributing a submitted title due to this restriction, ClearVoices will inform the account holder of the versions held from distribution. This does not apply to the submissions of abridged/unabridged versions of the same title.

Public Domain Content

Public domain titles are permissible for distribution on ClearVoices, but existing public domain performances may not be submitted by anyone but the original performer or organization coordinating the performance. In short, this means that you cannot submit someone else’s public domain title performance but you may submit an original recording of a public domain title provided that title meets our asset quality guidelines.

Misleading content

Accurate metadata and title descriptions are crucial to making sure that listeners find content that meets their expectations. Please ensure that all submitted metadata reflects what the listener can reasonably expect to experience. ClearVoices, at its discretion, may stop distribution if it is determined that customers are mislead by your content description in any way.

Listeners expect audiobooks to be human-narrated performances. ClearVoices does not accept non-human, synthesized, or computerized performances, even if it is clearly identified in the product’s description.

Sample and Metadata Content

Samples and Metadata are held to stricter content standards due to the public nature of these listings. Please ensure that samples and metadata are appropriate for all audiences, and do not (for example) include excessive graphic sex and explicit language.

Restricted Content

Content submitted to ClearVoices may not contain:

  • Violent, Threatening, or Disgusting Materials: Incitement to violence or terrorism is not permitted. This includes materials that are intended to harass, or which threaten to cause serious physical injury or death to an individual or rally support to physically harm others.
